The NSEC is managed by an executive committee consisting of Profs. P.F. Nealey (Director), R.J. Hamers (Thrust 1), P. Gopalan (Thrust 1), N.L. Abbott (Thrust 2), S.H. Gellman (Thrust 2), J.J. dePablo (Thrust 3), D.C. Schwartz (Thrust 3), J.A. Pedersen (Thrust 4), M.C. Powell (Thrust 4), J.J. Bisognano (Facilities), J.W. Moore (Education and Outreach), and A.E. Greenberg (REU). The research is carried out by Thrust groups on a rolling horizon basis and smaller seed groups on a limited-term (2 - 3 year) basis.
Thrust One addresses the question of assembling nano-structured objects into functional nanoscale systems.
Thrust Two is exploring guided processes of chemical synthesis and assembly on the nanoscale.
Thrust Three relies on concerted experimental and theoretical approaches to explore the use of non-equilibrium processes for nanoscale assembly and manipulation of nanoparticles and macromolecules.
Thrust Four researchers and scholars seek to address social, legal, and environmental impacts of engineered nanomaterials.
The UW NSEC web site (though not the content) is built and maintained by Internet Scout.
